Hello and happy fall!

We hope you enjoyed the warm summer months and were able to take time to relax and unwind. In honor of National Suicide Prevention Month, PRMS made a donation to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), which gives individuals touched by suicide a national community “empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.”

Stanford Course on Suicide-Focused Assessment and Treatment

Wednesday, November 18, 2026
8:30 AM (PST) – 2:00 PM (PST) | 11:30 AM (EST) – 5:00 PM (EST)
Live Webinar

The Stanford Mood Disorders Center and the Stanford Center for CME (SCCME) announce the 6th Annual Suicide Course entitled “Suicide-Focused Assessment and Treatment.”

While suicide death rates have shown some recent fluctuation, the broader burden of suicidality remains staggering: SAMHSA’s 2024 national survey data identify approximately 16,900,000 adults and adolescents currently living with serious suicidal ideation. The challenge of caring for these individuals is ubiquitous — making the case for this course as urgent as ever. The need to assess and address suicidality cuts across every clinical setting and theoretical orientation, and this course offers timely, clinically grounded responses.

The course directors will be Dr. Alan Schatzberg from Stanford University and Dr. Douglas Jacobs from Harvard University, and all the presentations will focus on the advances in assessment and intervention with direct application for clinical practice. This virtual course will offer CMEs/CEUs and may be of interest to your members. More details can be found here.

2026 PRMS Partners in the Community Grant

To further PRMS’ enduring dedication to supporting mental health and the organizations aligned with this cause, we proudly continued our PRMS Partners in the Community Grant (PPCG) initiative. We invited our partners to nominate local non-profits that enhance mental healthcare in their communities for a chance to receive grant funding allowing our partners to develop programming, create member volunteer opportunities, and strengthen existing collaborative efforts. We are excited to announce Mercy Home for Boys and Girls as our winner, with Harbor House in second place and Cover My Mental Health in third. They were nominated by the Illinois Psychiatric Society, the Mississippi Psychiatric Association, and the San Diego Psychiatric Society, respectively. Learn more about our initiative and the winners in one of our latest blog posts here.
