Pittsburgh Chapter Hosts Resident Research & Awards Night

Nearly 70 Pittsburgh Chapter members and 21 industry partners came together on November 1 at the Sheraton Hotel Station Square in downtown Pittsburgh to network and share ideas. The Reflections room offered a beautiful cityscape background to the activities.

Pittsburgh Residents proudly presented their posters to share ideas with attendees. Through a blind judging process, the top 3 poster presenters were selected. Third place was awarded to Meghan Keil, “Care considerations for individuals with intellectual disability during pregnancy”; second place was awarded to Ryan Wasilchak, “Nonadherence with Telehealth V. In person Visits”; and first place was awarded to Andres Roman, “New Onset Substance Use Disorder among Offspring of Bipolar Parents: A Longitudinal Study.” Winners received monetary awards of $100, $200 and $300 respectively. We encourage Residents to participate in this annual event.

The Pittsburgh Chapter honored several members for their support of the psychiatric profession and their support of the society as well as members who are in the early stages of their career in psychiatry. Lifetime Achievement Awardees are: Patton Nickell, MD LFAPA; Gary Swanson, MD DFAPA and Robert Wettstein, MD, LFAPA. Wynne Lundblad MD received the Early Career Psychiatrist award. Congratulations to all.
